Personal and environmental hygiene are essential components of nursing care. Hygiene plays a major role in preventing infection, promoting health and maintaining patient comfort. In hospital settings, patients depend on nurses to maintain cleanliness of both their body and surroundings.

For GNM 1st year students, this topic is very important for both theory exams and clinical practice. Proper hygiene practices help prevent hospital-acquired infections and improve recovery outcomes. Nurses must have knowledge and skills to maintain both personal hygiene of patients and cleanliness of the environment.
